Is It Luck?

I think there are many times in life where we sit back and think about all the good and bad things that have happened to us in life. We think about karma, luck, or whether the universe is trying to teach us some kind of lesson. It’s funny how our minds try to find patterns in chaos, trying to make sense of why certain things happen and why others don’t.

Lately, I’ve been realizing that maybe it’s not always about finding the “why,” but about how we respond to the experiences we’re given. Life is unpredictable, and no amount of overthinking or wishing could truly prepare us for every twist and turn. What we can control is how we grow from those moments, how we adapt, and how we use what we’ve learned to move forward with intention.

This mindset ties in so much with how we live sustainably, too. It’s easy to feel powerless when you think about the bigger issues in the world climate change, pollution, overconsumption. But instead of sitting back and asking, “Why is this happening?” maybe we can start asking, “What can I do, even in small ways, to make things better?”

It doesn’t always take grand gestures to make a difference. Sometimes, it’s the quiet, everyday decisions—choosing to repair instead of replace, shopping locally, donating clothes, or simply consuming less that build a bigger impact over time. Just like life, sustainability is less about perfection and more about progress.

Maybe that’s the lesson in it all: to stop chasing the perfect explanation or the perfect outcome, and instead focus on intentional action. Because at the end of the day, it’s what we do how we choose to show up that defines how we move through both the highs and the lows.
